Don’t Do This While You’re Hungry

You must be thinking, what in the world is this girl talking about? Don’t do what while you’re hungry? When I used to be a cashier, the customers whose carts were loaded up with food and then loaded on to the belt, would always tell me, “Don’t shop while you’re hungry.”

And I would always be confused like, what are you talking about? Then I experienced shopping while hungry for myself and realized that when you shop while you’re hungry, you DO end up buying more food than you intended to.

But shopping while hungry is not what this blog post is about, haha. I had you pulled into the grocery store story for a little bit there, huh? Come on, you can admit it!

Anyway, just the other morning, I went into the room to complete my morning routine. I’ve finally learned how to meditate consistently, yay! In the past, I would meditate for a day or two, maybe a week tops. And then I would just quit because I didn’t feel like I was doing it right.

Now, I’ve been meditating consistently for at least a 30-day period and I’m proud of myself! It really does take 21 days to create a habit.

As I was in the room, I turned my favorite 10-minute daily calm meditation on, I closed my eyes and sat up straight in an erect posture.

Just a few minutes into the meditation, my stomach started RUMBLING. I mean, I could not concentrate on the meditation at all.

So I stopped it and grabbed something to eat. I said to myself, “I better not try to meditate while hungry again.” And I never thought of that before until I attempted meditating while hungry.

So if no one’s ever told you this before, here is a quick tip for meditation. Don’t try to do it while you’re hungry.

Has this ever happened to you before? Were you able to push through and complete your meditation anyway? Would love to hear your hunger meditation stories.
